Exams and X-Rays

Your first visit at Happy Teeth Dental Centers will begin with an initial examination/consultation and x-rays. At this appointment your dentist will screen your medical history and discuss potential issues that may preclude you from having dental work done. Our dentists will work closely with your primary care physician to ensure that any treatment we deliver doesn't interfere with or adversely affect your health.

If you are in pain or you have something immediately concerning you, your Happy Teeth dentist will waste no time and get right down to addressing that issue. Your dentists will collect a variety of information to give you a complete picture of your dental condition. Of utmost importance is your oral hygiene or "how clean your mouth is." Keeping a clean mouth not only prevents obvious problems like cavities and gingivitis, but also is also extremely important in heart health and for people managing preexisting conditions like diabetes.  

Your dentist will then check all the hard (teeth, bone) and soft (gums, tongue, cheek) tissues for oral cancer and any other funny looking lesions. For adults, the dentist will then make a judgment on the quality and health of the jawbone. People with a receding jawbone level or inflammation of their gums may have an existing dental disease.

There are many factors that contribute to the health of your teeth. Another factor that often gets overlooked is your diet and identifying which foods and drinks are harming your teeth.

Ultimately, your dentist will give you a diagnosis of your condition and a treatment plan with different options for treating your teeth. Talk to your dentist about your goals for treatment and any concerns you may have about the cost, anxiety management, or scheduling your treatment.
